Happy Spiritual
New Year

"Indeed Allah and His angels bestow their prayers upon the Prophet. O you who believe, bestow prayers and peace upon him in abundance."
(Quran Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:56)

The 8th Lunar Month of Sha'ban is finally here and it's known as the month of Rasul'Allah ﷺ. Following the Prophetic tradition, it is customary to observe rigorous fasting, particularly on the 15th day following Shab e Baraat, which is our spiritual new year and also holds profound importance for seeking forgiveness and blessings through sincere prayers to Allah.

In observance of these auspicious occasions, let us express our gratitude through generous contributions. Our charitable endeavors encompass various initiatives, including the establishment of clean water wells, the organization of events for orphanages, and the provision of monthly food assistance to the underprivileged. Notably, our Ramadan Appeal initiative aims to distribute 10,000 iftars to families in need, with the objective of enriching their Ramadan experience.

We invite you to join us in elevating the spirit of giving during this sacred month. Together, let us uphold the values of compassion and solidarity, making a tangible impact in the lives of those facing adversity.

Lailatul Bara'ah - Special Night

At the mid-point between month of Rajab and month of Ramadan, it is consider to be the Spiritual New Year.  Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ said; “When the night of 15th Sha’ban arrives, spend the night awake and keep fast the next day.” To observe Lailatul Bara’ah, one should remain awake on this night and spend the whole night in worship and prayer. However, if one cannot do so, they can select a considerable portion of the night, preferably the second half of it for this purpose, and perform the wazifa.  The following are the practices to be performed at night.

Fasting in Sha'ban

Sha’ban is one of the meritorious months for which we find particular instructions in the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It is reported in authentic ahadith that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to fast most of the month of Sha’ban. These fasts are supererogatory (nafl) and well deserving of reward, for Sha’ban is the month immediately preceding the month of Ramadan. The Prophet mentioned in a hadith,"Rajab is the month of Allah, Sha’ban is my month, and Ramadan is the month of the Nation."  It is recommended to fast on:

  1. Mondays and Thursdays
  2. 13th of Sha'ban
  3. 14th of Sha'ban
  4. 15th of Sha'ban – Nisf Sha'ban (for Lailatul Bara'ah)
  5. Last Day of Sha'ban
